objawili: Jacob Anderskov, Søren Kjaergaard, August Rosenbaum i
Simon Toldam.
Ten ostatni, urodzony w 1979 r. pianista i kompozytor
jest jednym z najbardziej ekscytujących muzyków i indywidualnych
głosów swojej generacji. Współpracując z Han Bennink Trio,
Sekten, PET oraz prowadząc zespoły - Simon Toldam & Prügelknabe
i Simon Toldam Stork, dzięki swojej muzycznej wyobraźni i maestrii
instrumentalnej przedstawia intrygujące oryginalnością własne
światy dźwiękowe. Muzyka na omawianej płycie odbiega swoim
charakterem od poprzednich, jest jednak nieodmiennie
ciekawa.Sunshine Sunshine or Green as Grass będący zapisem koncertu w kopenhaskim Kind of Blue przypomina mi nagrania tria Herbiego Nicholsa z połowy lat 50.
Koncert

Danish
improvised music scene is like an unusual bay, in which you can dive
and find precious pearls; for me such are pianist, who in recent
years revealed on this scene to name a few Jacob Anderskov, Søren
Kjaergaard, August Rosenbaum and Simon Told. Least but not last, born
in 1979, pianist and composer is one of the most exciting musicians
and individual voices of his generation. Working with Han Bennink
Trio, Sekten, PET, leading Simon Toldam and & Prügelknabe and
Simon Toldam’s Stork according to his musical imagination and
instrumental mastery, presents intriguing with originality his own
worlds of sounds Music presented on record has a different character
from the previous ones, however is invariably interesting.
Sunshine
Sunshine or Green as Grass, which documents concert in Copenhagen's
Kind of Blue cafe reminds me Herbie Nichols Trio recordings from the
mid-50s This does not mean in any case that this jazz, swinging music
should be regarded as a retrospective - musicians operate with a new
sound, technique and language (Syng
Lyng Syng),
enriched by the experience of minimal music, contemporary music and
avant-garde jazz (Dadadada,
Schwung).
The album
is consistent and dramatically varied, full of elation and deep Im
Diesem Nacht
and
Gammel
Blå Trae,
adjacent to powered by a playful swing vehicles: Kott
Blues,
Sunshine
Sunshine;
also daring compositions appear in which sounds and rhythms collide
as elementary particles (Dadadada).
Although
recording of this music it’s great, it’s far from sterile concert
recordings. In Gammel
Blå Trae
you
can clearly hear presence of the audience – it’s unpretentious
and humorous approach, showing openness of the musicians for
interaction with the space in which there is a place for a lot of
slack, but there is also room for important things and the audience
for these moments is fully committed.
There is a vital message in the recording; instruments sound contemporary, instrumentalists
present unique skills and interaction. Simon Toldam’s Trio
generously offers audience gathered in the Kind of Blue extraordinary
musical experience, which due to recording of Sunshine Sunshine or
Green as Grass thankfully can become ours.
The concert
in the limited edition is also available on vinyl. Write a message to
Simon Toldam himself to get one of the limited issues of the LP. He
provides a cup of tea when you pick your album up!
What
I find very appealing proposition.
